Alamo is a unincorporated community located between the City of Walnut Creek and the Town of Danville. It is home to Round Hill Country Club, an up scale community with large sprawling homes on tree-studded lots in a very established neighborhood.
In addition to its upscale suburban living, there are newer developments and gated communities. Many of these communities are known for there semi-rural atmosphere. Alamo is a enclave of green, with many of its homes on lots of 0.5 acres and larger. It is governed by the County Board of Supervisors and several active county service areas advising on police, landscape, and park issues.
Alamo is served by more than one school district. Most of it is served by San Ramon Valley Unified School District and there is a portion that is served by the Walnut Creek Elementary School District and the Acalanes Union High School District. Residents of Alamo can use the Walnut Creek Bay Area Rapid Transit, or Bart (a seven to 10 minute car ride) for commuting by public transport in to San Francisco, which is a 30 to 35 minute Bart ride.
